The artists exhibiting in ROTATION represent the generative quality of material information, while embracing differing ideologies. Working from raw material and taking it through the artistic process is to translate it outward from the center. The translation of material from one state to another still adheres to the invariant properties of the material be it lava rock, steel, wood, ink, or forms of plastic. Through various methods of production, these works emphasize the way in which material transformation is a rotation out from a center of invariance.
Ásgeir Skúlason (1984) works conceptually with audio and video. Weaving
audio and VHS magnetic tape into a visual recording, his work speaks from the perspective of the material.
Kjartan Ari Pétursson (1972) works with repetition to create visual recordings of
his experiments with material and instrumentation. His translation of the line
between graphic method and drawing speaks of an automated process.
Sindri Leifsson (1988) uses sculpture to question the evolution from process to
product. His works reveal the significant role of time in the transformation of

Veronika Geiger (1987) uses a mixture of lens-based media and analog
methods. She investigates elements such as light, weight, and gravity in the landscape, embracing the make-up of space.
