BERG Contemporary is pleased to congratulate Rósa Gísladóttir on the honorary Gerður Helgadóttir Award, presented by Gerðarsafn, Kópavogur Art Museum. Founded in support of sculptural art in Iceland, the Gerður Helgadóttir Award is presented in honor of the memory of late sculptor Gerður Helgadóttir. Each year, the museum will present the award to an outstanding artist working within the realm of sculpture. According to the selection committee, Rósa Gísladóttir has been chosen due to her ambitious and powerful contribution to the art of sculpture in Iceland. Gísladóttir’s works explore geometry and classical structures, with strong connotations towards architecture and Russian constructivism. Her sculptures equally play on the classical and contemporary, both in their aesthetics and materiality.
