Sigurður Guðjónsson's work is featured in a new exhibtion held by the Icelandic Embassy in Paris, hosted by Unnur Orradóttir Ramette, the ambassador of Iceland. The exhibition features three artists and is organized by Ásdís Ólafsdóttir, director of Artnord Magazine and Aðalheiður L. Guðmundsdóttir, Chair of Comité des historiens de l’art nordique.
The work specifically chosen for this exhibition is titled Ablation (2008), where the artist situates a hypnotic movement inside of what appears to be a glacier fissure. The scale and the context are uncertain, creating a diffuse feeling of threat. There is a notion of a bodiness, underlined by the sound, that evokes our physical and intrinsic relation to nature and to the world that surrounds us.
The show opens on 21 September 2023.
