Atelier Nord in Oslo has opened a new exhibition titled IT’S ALL ABOUT THE SIGNAL, featuring the works of Steina and Woody Vasulka, aiming to shed light on the technical diversity and wide-ranging will to experiment that characterises their contribution to the signal-focused tradition within video. The exhibition includes several interviews and conversations with Steina and Woody from the 1980s, that give an unique look at their approach to the video medium.
Atelier Nord works within new media art, with new forms and new content – especially within technology intensive art. These fields are characterized by instability in relation to production, distribution and how they are communicated. Atelier Nord’s engagement with new media art aims to establish suitable conditions for the production and distribution of new media art, an increased understanding of these art forms, as well as a strengthening of the critical discussion within the field.
IT’S ALL ABOUT THE SIGNAL runs through November 20th 2016.
